Automotive Window Tinting FAQs
Q. How long does it take to get my car tinted?
A. The process usually takes 2 – 4 hours depending on the difficulty of the car, cleanliness, and number of windows. Window tinting is not a race, we take our time to ensure quality intallations. Our installers are factory certified and have over 20 years experience and offer the same quality of work to each customer.
Q. What do I use to clean my windows?
A. Warm water and a soft cloth. Never use a window cleaner that contains ammonia, this will break down the scratch-resistant coating over time. A special glass cleaner that is safe for window film is available at our store.
Q. Why do I see little bubbles or haziness soon after the installation?
A. This is a normal part of the curing process.Although we squeegee out as much of the water as possible, some small amounts still remain between the film and the glass. As this water evaporates you may see small bubbles or foggy patches. These should go away within a few days but could last up to a month.
Q. Can window film be removed?
A. Yes, window film can be removed at any time after the installation.
Q. Does window film go on the inside or outside?
A. Automotive film goes on the inside of the windows to prevent damage from the outside elements.
Q. Why do I see bubbled or purple tint on cars?
A. These vehicles were tinted using cheap window film. The dyed material that they use fades and discolors usually after only a year or two.The bubbles are a result of a failure in the adhesive system causing the tint to literally lift from the glass. Our LLumar lifetime warranty films are guaranteed never to turn purple or bubble up as long as you own your vehicle, nationwide! When you are considering where to get your vehicle tinted, remember, cheapest is not always the best.
Q. How durable is window tinting?
A. LLumar window film is protected by a durable scratch-resistant coating that can withstand everyday use. The key word however is “resistant”, this does not mean “scratch-proof”. Even glass will scratch, so be careful when loading and unloading objects with sharp edges, boxes, sports equipment, and also when releasing your seatbelt, this can easily make small nicks in the film that are not covered by warranty.
Q. Will window film interfere with my vehicles electronics?
A. Many traditional high-performance metallized films can interfere with signals in newer vehicles, such as navigation systems, AM stations, tire pressures sensors, keyless entry systems, even cell phones. If your vehicle is equipped with these options, we recommend installing LLumar Axcess window film. LLumar Axcess is a ceramic-based window film that does not contain metal. This patent-pending technology allows you to have all the benefits of a high performance film, without sacrificing connectivity or performance of your devices.
Q. What is the difference between after-market tinting and factory tinted windows?
A. Some truck and sport utility vehicles come from the manufacturer with glass that has dark factory glass. This “factory tinted” glass is a dark shade but does not protect the interior of your car from the sun’s heat or damaging UV rays as well as aftermarket window film. Also our window films will help protect from flying glass in case of an accident. It is possible to apply aftermarket window film over factory tinted glass to make the windows darker and to improve performance.
Q. Will the tint damage my rear defroster?
A. No it will not. We tint right over the top of it. The defroster can be used right away without affecting the tint.
Q. Why should I have Advanced Tinting Solutions tint my car?

Most of our customers are repeat customers and we will insure that you have a great experience with us and enjoy your window film for years to come.
